why insn't there a principal for at-risk programs

Since there is a dedicated principal for advanced academic programs, why isn't there a principal that is strictly focused on at-risk programs/alternative education?

A: Under No Child Left Behind, we all tend to pay very close attention to the children who are at risk of not being successful. In fact, every administrator spends significant portions of their time planning, designing programs and researching ways to help these students. We felt it was equally necessary to dedicate at least one person to specifically address the needs of our academically talented students. Unfortunately, the current funding problems put that initiative at risk.

Why not split the current administrator between at-risk programming and academically advanced programming to ensure that both groups of students have at least one administrator that can coordinate the programming and services throughout the district?

It would be interesting to see the demographics of the kids who are the most at risk, especially the kids in the tutoring program who are not attending regular classes.

A: A split position would be entirely too broad of a scope for any one person. Also, our district administrators are already devoting much of their time and attention to the most needy population.
